Mario Karlovčec: Hand geometry based biometric identity verification system

Verification system that uses features of the hand geometry for verifying identity of a person is presented. Hand geometry is acquired using standard document scanner. After the image of hand is processed and features are extracted, different methods are used for verification, i.e. identification. Vertices represent points of a hand, while edges represent dimensions of parts of a hand. Method based on concept of minimal spanning tree, as well as some other methods, like: nearest neighbor, euclidean distance, etc., are applied for verification.
