The presentation will give an overview of the Computer Science Department at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. A general image of the department's structure is given: dimension in terms of number of employees and students, then research groups as well as a brief description of those parts of curricula aimed at building skills which might be of mutual interest. A glimpse on each of the research areas is then given, together with some of the ongoing/completed projects:

Computer Graphics and Interactive Systems geographical data processing, graphical annotation in e-learning);

Intelligent Systems (software agents, defeasible logic and argumentation, trust in multi-agent systems, ontology engineering with self organizing maps);

Computer architecture (agent-based hardware systems, path planning for robot navigation);

Distributed Systems (ontology driven automatic web service composition, food traceability and quality control, semantically enriched archive content);

Computer Vision and Image Processing (lane and object detection, intersection safety, stereo vision, );

Software Technology (formal models for worldwide scale programmable infrastructure);

Multiparadigm Logic Programming (intelligent system for assisting decisions in prostate cancer pacients, elearning system meant to adapt to the user, randomness sources for cryptography);

Networks and Communication (digital content management based on grid; QoS aware frameworks for networks and middelware);

Operating Systems (data organizing and retrieval in file systems).
