The Konstanz Information Miner is a modular environment, which enables easy visual assembly and interactive execution of a data pipeline. It is designed as a teaching, research and collaboration platform, which enables simple integration of new algorithms and tools as well as data manipulation or visualization methods in the form of new modules or nodes.
In this presentation an introduction about KNIME will be given. It will be shown how to use several kinds of KNIME nodes, such as data input nodes, preprocessing and data manipulation nodes, mining nodes, like clustering or classification and visualization nodes. Strategies, like learning and predicting or highlighting will be explained. The presentation will be coupled with a demo of KNIME.
Furthermore the underlying data structure, used to pass data from one node to another will be briefly mentioned, as well as the steps which need to be taken in order to create own customized nodes.
